"No Shade" is a smooth, slow-riding hip-hop track with R&B undertones thanks to Chaz French's ability to successfully and seamlessly cross the genres. "No Shade" allows French to display both abilities with help from Wale on the hook as well as a verse about a mutual respect between parties that have gone their separate ways.

It's a very interesting approach for French, who is a pretty underrated lyricist in hip-hop at the moment.

The Fader completed an in-depth profile of French prior to the release of Happy Belated.

The publication also pushed the track titled, "What Ya Say" featuring Saba, a song that puts French more in-tuned with his soul and the limits of success.

French released an album titled, Happy Belated on April 27, 2015. The album contained immaculate production and and French's diverse lyrical content.

It was filled with super heavy hitting beats and received an overall rating of 4.5 from iTunes users.

It's unclear whether "No Shade" means that there will be another piece in the works. In the meantime fans will have to ride out with "No Shade."
