Star Wars: Episode IX's full cast was announced a few days ago and many people were happy to see Carrie Fisher's name despite the actress dying in real life nearly two years ago.

Well her role in the next movie could be bigger than expected mainly because there is still a lot more unused footage that was never used in the theatrical cuts of both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.

As reported by StarWarsNewNet, ABC News’ Clayton Sandell spoke with Carrie Fisher's brother Todd Fisher and he revealed that there's a lot more footage of Carrie that has not been used yet.

You can read his comments on the matter posted down below.

"I talked to Todd Fisher today about all of this and he has been talking with J. J. Abrams about it. I asked him, because the press release only said The Force Awakens so I asked about The Last Jedi, and they are also using unused footage from The Last Jedi. I asked him how many minutes of footage they had from it and he said ‘I can’t tell you that!' He (Todd Fisher) said there were big surprises coming – big surprises with this movie, this performance, and the unused footage – and said – this one is really for the fans. But they apparently have a number of unused minutes from both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Todd and the whole family are very excited and wanted it to happen."

This is very interesting considering that they never intended to kill off the character of General Leia originally.

It will be interesting to see how they handle Leia's exit in the Star Wars universe without the use of additional CGI like they did in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Star Wars: Episode IX releases in December 2019 worldwide. Filming for the movie has already started to details about the film could be slowly revealed in the weeks and months to come.
