WWE Survivor Series 2017 has a theme where the best wrestlers on Raw take on the best wrestlers from Smackdown Live.

A few weeks ago, it seemed as if the main event was set in stone. However, WWE may have changed its mind regarding the main event.

The current plan for the main event of WWE Survivor Series is for Universal Champion Brock Lesnar to face up against WWE Champion Jinder Mahal.

On paper, this looks like a big match but it features one flaw. It's a heel vs heel main event.

WWE has done heel main events earlier this year with Lesnar facing Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman at Great Ball of Fire and No Mercy respectively. That said, those PPVs were more diverse.

Survivor Series 2017 already has multiple heel vs heel matches. WWE has currently booked Alexa Bliss vs Natalya and The Miz vs Baron Corbin too.

AJ Styles vs Brock Lesnar makes more sense from a business point of view. AJ Styles is arguably the best wrestler in WWE right now and everyone seems to love the guy.

People will cheer for him as an underdog against the much bigger Brock Lesnar. Jinder Mahal does not have that much fan support and his wrestling style is not as exciting either.

AJ Styles is facing Jinder Mahal for the WWE Title next week on Smackdown Live.

The winner of that match goes on to face Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series 2017. What's interesting about it is the fact that it was booked at the last minute.

The original Smackdown Live main event for next week was for AJ Styles to face Rusev for a spot in a Raw vs Smackdown 5-on-5 match.

WWE may have got cold feet and there's a good chance Styles can the WWE Title next week. As for Rusev, nobody knows that he's doing anymore.

I don't think Styles is going to be champion for very long though if he wins the title.

WWE is touring India later this year so Jinder Mahal is likely going to get the strap back. It's rumored Mahal will be facing John Cena for the WWE Title at WrestleMania 34.

Anyway, I'm hoping AJ Styles wins so that he can face Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series. Styles never disappoints and always gives the fans the best match possible.
