Some sad news have greeted WWE fans today on Monday Night Raw because it has been revealed that WWE wrestler Roman Reigns has leukemia. It's worth mentioning that this is real and it's not part of a storyline.

Both Roman Reigns himself and the WWE have confirmed this today.

Roman Reigns initially beat leukemia several years ago when he was 22 years old, but sadly the illness is back. Due to the illness, Roman Reigns has been forced to relinquish the WWE Universal title.

WWE also issued out a press release announcing the sad news. You can read their official statement posted below.

"Tonight on Monday Night Raw, Roman Reigns (aka Joe Anoa'i) announced that he is relinquishing the WWE Universal Championship and taking a leave of absence from WWE as he once again fights leukemia, which had been in remission since late 2008. Reigns is taking his battle with leukemia public in an effort to raise awareness and funds for research in order to advance cures for the disease.

This is very sad news, but hopefully Reigns is able to overcome the sickness again and comes back better than ever.

As I said before, this is a real life situation so try and respect Roman Reigns during what will be one of the toughest challenges he is facing in his life.

There's been no word what will happen with the WWE Universal Title, but presumably Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar will fight in the match to become champion sometime in the near future.

As for Reigns, he will be taking a leave of absence to hopefully beat leukemia for the second time in his life.
