After a Box Office slump over the last couple of weeks, things are starting to heat up both in North America and China. Several movies have had big openings in both regions.

First up, Stephen King's 'IT' impressed at the North American Box Office. The movie earned $117.2 million this weekend.

This is nearly double the amount it was expected to make.

Analysts thought the movie would earn $50 million to $60 million in its opening weekend. Due to this, the movie is the biggest horror movie opening of all time and the biggest September opening too.

'IT's' worldwide total now stands at over $179.2 million. Not bad for a film that was made for only $35 million.

The studio has got their money back and more. With numbers this high, there's no doubt a sequel will be made in the near future.

In other Box Office news, Spider-Man: Homecoming had a huge opening over in China. The movie earned a Box Office weekend of $70.8 million.

This is the third biggest opening for a superhero movie in China. It is only behind Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Age of Ultron.

From a worldwide perspective, Spider-Man: Homecoming has earned $822.8 million worldwide so far. This is higher than the worldwide total of Wonder Woman. The movie has also earned more money than both The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

It's expected the movie will earn north of $100 million in China so it could come close to getting as much money as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Sony were smart to partner up with Marvel after all!
