Box Office analysts previously all predicted that Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again would have been at the top of the Box Office this weekend.

However, the first estimates have come in and it looks like Denzel Washington's The Equalizer 2 came out on top and beat the musical.

The Equalizer 2 managed to get $35.8 million in its opening weekend nearly matching the $34.1 million that the first movie got a few years ago.

While critics are mixed about the film, the movie has an "A" Cinemascore meaning its target audience of older males love it.

Since word of mouth is strong from movie goers, there's a chance The Equalizer 2 could gross over $100 million in North America by the end of its run.

That said, the film does have to compete with strong competition next weekend once Mission: Impossible - Fallout comes out.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again comes out a decade after the first movie and it had to settle for second place at the Box Office this weekend.

The movie earned an estimated $34.3 million and managed to beat the $27.7 million of the first movie.

While word of mouth is not as strong with Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, it should still gross well in the weeks to come because it caters to a female audience.

There aren't that many female driven movies that will be out in the next few weeks.

In terms of the global Box Office, Skyscraper came out on top thanks to its release in China this weekend. The movie opened with $47.7 million in China and the worldwide total for the film now stands at $179.5 million.

That said, Skyscraper is underperforming compared to other films by Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson such as Rampage and San Andreas.

Skyscraper is looking like a rare misfire for the popular actor, although he should bounce back with other hit movies coming out next year.
