This past weekend the Box Office was dominated by a romantic comedy called 'Crazy Rich Asians' as the movie managed to beat out 'Mile 22' which is an action movie starring Mark Wahlberg, Lauren Cohan and Ronda Rousey.

As reported by Box Office Pro, 'Crazy Rich Asians' got a 3 day Box Office weekend of $26.5 million. This is just the 3 day weekend because the movie already came out last week on Wednesday.

As a whole, the romantic comedy has made $35.2 million currently and is sure to dominate the Box Office for the next few days.

Word of mouth continues to be strong and this is good news for the Asian community as it proves movies can be led by non-white heroes.

As pointed out by Rotten Tomatoes, Crazy Rich Asians has a very healthy 93% percent rating by the critics. The Audience Score is the same at 93% so the movie is universally liked by everyone.

It's surprising to see Crazy Rich Asians on top because the action movie 'Mile 22' underperformed a lot even though it stars the likes of Mark Wahlberg, Lauren Cohan and Ronda Rousey.

The movie only made $13.7 million in its opening weekend which is lower than its projected $15 million estimate.

Word of mouth for Mile 22 looks really poor because the Rotten Tomatoes rating for the film is a dismal 17 percent from critics.

The Audience score is not much better as only 42% of the average movie goer has given the movie a thumbs up.

Mile 22 may have flopped, but last week's release 'The Meg' is still doing well. The shark movie earned $21.1 million in its second weekend and the movie as a whole has received $316 million worldwide.
