Blade Runner 2049 Director Might Not Be Able To Direct James Bond 25

The 25th official James Bond movie is due out in late 2019 and a search for a director is ongoing. However Blade Runner 2049's director, Denis Villeneuve, might be out of the running for now due to scheduling conflicts.

During an exclusive interview, The Playlist had a chance to speak to Denis Villeneuve about the rumors of him being on the shortlist to direct James Bond 25.

According to Villeneuve's answer, it sounds like he will be too busy working on Dune. You can read his comments down below.

The thing is I don't now about that, but listen, Daniel Craig is a very inspiring actor and I had some contact and the thing is that I'm busy right now doing 'Dune.' But, I will say to have the privilege to work with him it would be a dream. I would love to work with Daniel and a Bond movie for me would be a treat. It's a matter of timing, I guess.

There's a chance he could still be in the running, although a movie like Dune could take a long time to make. It might be impossible for him to juggle two big movies back-to-back.

What we do know is that Sam Mendes is unlikely to return. Mendes was responsible for directing Skyfall and Spectre.

The new film is expected to be the last James Bond movie to star Daniel Craig.

Hopes are high that Craig's final outing as the British spy can go out on a high note. Hopefully the 25th James Bond movie can be as good as both Casino Royale and Skyfall.
