The first four days of a movie's Box Office opening is usually huge, but only mega blockbusters are able to earn lots of money over a short amount of time.

Well official Box Office numbers have been released for Black Panther and the film has exceeded initial estimates.

The original estimates said that Black Panther would have earned around $235 million in its first four days behind both Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

However, the real numbers have now been collected by Deadline and the new MCU film has managed to beat The Last Jedi.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi had a four day opening of $241.6 million back in December 2017. Now Black Panther has just beat that with an opening of over $242 million.

The Marvel film is the second biggest opening of all time behind the $288 million that The Force Awakens got in its four day opening two years ago.

In either case, the top three movie openings belong to Disney dropping Universal Pictures' Jurassic World in fourth place.

The numbers for Black Panther are really impressive that the film could make over $1 billion easily worldwide at this rate. This is a remarkable achievement for a standalone superhero movie.

One has to wonder if Avengers: Infinity War has the potential to beat The Force Awakens' opening weekend when it comes out in North America on May 4th, 2018.

There's a chance Infinity War can beat Star Wars since it will feature nearly every MCU hero revealed to date.

Anyway, Black Panther truly is a great movie and the hype for it is real. If you want to read our own review of the movie, you can click here to see it.
