Bent Denim Announces Winter Tour

Last month, "nightmare pop" duo Bent Denim revealed plans to release a covers EP in early 2015, beginning with a "dark and almost threatening" version of Angel Olsen's "Unf--ktheworld".

Indie Shuffle premiered the track just prior to Thanksgiving, noting that the "added percussion and fuzzy guitars only amplify the heartbreak without taking away from the rawness of Olsen's version."

The second single from the EP premiered just before Christmas through All Things Go -- a melancholic cover of Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off." Bent Denim have turned Swift's danceable, uplifting pop gem on its head, exposing and inflating the subtle anxieties of the song.

Swift's radio hit now sounds like an early Bright Eyes / Mike Mogus production or like a b-side from Sea Change.

Bent Denim's debut Epistolary EP is a collection of seven songs that began to take shape in early 2013 with "Periodic Table" -- a track "worthy for the Youth Lagoon intimacy-stakes, with swooshing piano lines and some stirring, minor-key misery lining the seams" (DIY Mag).

Impose Magazine was also an early supporter of the band, premiering the duo's brilliant homemade lyric video for "Christmastime" that utilizes still life images and letter tiles to highlight Bent Denim's poignant lyricism.

Epistolary earned the band an official showcase at SXSW, a set at BUKU Music + Art Festival, and an opening slot on Young & Sick's headlining US national tour.

The band, currently based in both New Orleans and Nashville, is on tour now and wrapping up their debut LP to be released in Spring 2015.
