Rampage starring Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson was originally scheduled to be stampeding in North American cinemas on April 20th, 2018.

However thanks to a last minute change from Avengers: Infinity War, Warner Bros has had to alter the release date for the video game film.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the new release date for Rampage is now April 13th, 2018 which is a week earlier than before.

Warner Bros did this in order to be two weeks away from the April 27th, 2018 release date of Avengers: Infinity War.

Sources say the producers of Rampage wanted to keep the two week gap between the two movies since Infinity War is expected to obliterate all of the competition when it comes out.

This change means Steven Spielberg's 'Ready Player One' now only has two weeks of free competition when it hits on March 30th, 2018.

Rotating release dates for big blockbusters is a good thing because nobody wants to see movies get released all at the same time.

A crowded schedule is evidently what caused War for the Planet of the Apes to not gross as much money as its predecessors.

War for the Planet of the Apes was sandwiched in between the releases of Spider-Man: Homecoming and Dunkirk last year and the release date affected its Box Office potential.

It would have been better if 20th Century Fox released the Apes film in August.

Anyway, this is not the first time Disney has caused Warner Bros to back away from a certain release date.

May 6th, 2016 was the original release date for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but Disney decided to snag it for Captain America: Civil War.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was forced to come out in late March instead. Anyway, I'm glad Rampage and Infinity War have been broken apart because it gives a chance for both movies to shine.
