Avengers: Endgame Breaks Numerous Box Office Records Worldwide

Avengers: Endgame is out in many parts of the world now and it's already made a huge mark at the Box Office.

The movie is one of the first to realistically have a chance of usurping Avatar as the highest grossing movie of all time.

As reported by Box Office Pro, Avatar: Endgame earned an insane $350 million in its opening weekend in North America. This is around $90 million higher than the previous record set by Avengers: Infinity War over a year ago.

Endgame was also in 4,662 theaters which is the widest release in North American history. It tops many of the records that were set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens back in December 2015.

There was some speculation that the movie would not break records due to its 3 hour runtime, but it looks like the length of the film did not deter movie goers.

Titanic also had a 3 hour runtime and it broke records at the Box Office back in December 1997.

It's also impressive Endgame broke records because over in North America, over 80 percent of movie goers saw the traditional 2D version of the film. It's not like Avatar where the majority of the audience saw the movie in 3D.

From a worldwide standpoint, the movie has now made $1.209 billion in just five days.

It beat Infinity War's record as that film last year grossed over $1 billion in only 11 days. The big boost is due to a simultaneous release date in China.

With such a huge opening around the world, there's a strong chance Avengers: Endgame will dethrone the $2.7 billion that Avatar earned over the 2009 Holiday period.
