If you've ever been to Istanbul, you may have had the pleasure of encountering some of Merve Merkoc's work.

Merkoc is a street artist/painter hailing from Turkey. Her latest work includes jarring, pastel portraits whose soft colors and lines are contrasted by morbid imagery: rats, insects, open wounds, and chilling facial deformities.

Merkoc's earlier work is just as strange and compelling. They depict stunted figures with disproportionately large heads and sunken eyes, who stare blankly at viewers.
