Details have now been revealed about the Blu-ray release for Alien: Covenant.

Fans will be happy to know that the home release version of the movie will feature several deleted scenes. Some scenes have been completely deleted while others have just been extended.

Anyway as reported by AVP Galaxy, the Blu-ray for Alien Covenant will be chest bursting into stores on August 15th, 2017.

This is the date that has been set in North America, so other regions might have different dates. Usually the release date should be roughly around the same time though.

Aside from the aforementioned deleted scenes, the movie will also have audio commentary from none other than Ridley Scott himself. This is great as we can hear what went through his mind while making the movie.

After all, this film has had mixed reviews from hardcore fans of the Alien franchise so it will be interesting to see why Scott made some controversial decisions. You can read the special features list below.

  • Audio Commentary by Ridley Scott
  • 12 Deleted and Extended Scenes (17m 58s)
  • 5 Featurettes: Meet Walter (2m 19s), Phobos (9m 8s), The Last Supper (4m 36s), The Crossing (2m 32s), Advent (6m 40s)
  • Master Class: Ridley Scott (55m 25s)
  • Theatrical Trailers
  • David's Illustrations

If you live in North America, there is also an exclusive version of the Blu-ray that you can get from Target stores.

This is a limited edition that includes a 36-page booklet that features artwork and photos from Alien: Covenant. It also comes with a Blu-ray disc, DVD disc as well as a digital version of the film.

I'm looking forward to watching the deleted scenes. The movie was okay, but you can tell several scenes were cut. Hopefully the deleted scenes flesh out some of the backstory that was kind of glossed over in the theatrical cut.
