While the end-of-the-year award season heats up, Portal Hollywood's "Hollywood Music Awards" nominated Australian pop rock band, "5 Seconds of Summer" as a Best New Artist--and fans on Twitter can hardly contain themselves.

As of writing, "5 Seconds of Summer" and "Shawn Mendes" are neck and neck on the website's poll, with Mendes in the lead by only a couple hundred votes.

But if you looked at the way Twitter was talking right about now, you'd think 5S0S has taken the gold.

Here are what a few diehard fanatics are tweeting:

Perhaps this can be the boy band's attempt at a form of redemption after an unfortunate Grammy's snub? Social media erupted after the Grammy noms were announced, and 5SOS was no where to be found.

Their best bet was a slot in the "Best New Artist" category, but the five nods went to Bastille, Brandy Clark, Haim, Sam Smith, and fellow Aussie, Iggy Azalea.

"5 Seconds of Summer" formed in Sydney, Australia in 2011, and swept the hearts of teenage girls around the globe when they opened for One Direction on their worldwide tour.

The band consists of Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Calum Hood, and Ashton Irwin. They are best known for hit single "She Looks So Perfect" off of their self-titled debut album.

Other contenders in the mix for the Hollywood Music Awards include Fifth Harmony, Sam Smith and Meghan Trainor.

The voting poll is located at portalhollywood.com in conjunction with the Hollywood Music Awards.

Along with "Best New Artist," you can vote for nominees in "Best Album," "Best Song," and "Artist of the Year." Portal Hollywood encourages voting on Twitter with the appropriate hashtag, and voting ends January 9, 2015.
