For over 30 years now, the WWE had only staged Royal Rumble matches for the male wrestlers. Well 2018 is a new era because the female wrestlers of the roster will take part in their own Royal Rumble match next year!

As reported by WWE.com, Stephanie McMahon made the monumental announcement on Raw this past week. This is a groundbreaking milestone that ensures the future of the professional wrestling will be great.

In recent years, WWE has made women more important as part of their programming.

We've had women Hell in a Cell matches, Money in the Bank matches and more. It's a far cry from the type of matches we received during the 'Divas' era.

There were no additional details announced about the Royal Rumble match, but it's unlikely going to feature 30 women as I don't think there's enough women on the main roster to fill in the numbers.

Unless of course they grab some people from NXT and the Performance Center.

The event will also be headlined by the 30-man Royal Rumble where the winner gets a title shot at WrestleMania 34. The favorites to win the men's match are either Roman Reigns or Shinsuke Nakamura.

It's expected Roman Reigns will face Brock Lesnar Universal Title while Shinsuke Nakamura will face AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 34. That being said, plans always change so don't be surprised if John Cena returns to win again...

The Royal Rumble 2018 event takes place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. The event will be available for you to watch either on PPV or the WWE Network.
