The Summer blockbuster season for 2017 is now over and Warner Bros. is the studio that stood tall.

This is thanks to the releases of Wonder Woman and Dunkirk. Disney came in second place, although their profits were not as high compared to last year. That said, Summer 2017 earned less money overall compared to previous years.

As reported by Deadline, Wonder Woman grossed the most money at the North American Box Office this year. The movie has earned $409.4 million so far.

It has already surpassed other superhero films such as Iron Man 3 and will soon pass Captain America: Civil War too.

This is a good sign for the DCEU going forward in the future after the likes of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad got critically panned last year.

Another movie that helped Warner Bros. win the Summer Box Office season is thanks to Dunkirk.

The World War II epic earned $179.8 million at the North American Box Office so far. The movie managed to get more money than known franchise films such as Transformers 5, Pirates 5 and War for the Planet of the Apes.

The second studio on the list is Disney. Disney's Summer Box Office 2017 was 39% less than what the studio earned last year.

The best earning movie for Disney was Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Other films underwhelmed this year such as Cars 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Sony managed to climb to third this year thanks to the release of Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Sony were lucky to join Marvel this year as it managed to make a movie that is liked by both critics and fans alike. This is after years of disappointing Spider-Man films.

Even though there were many good movies out this year, many sequels and franchises managed to make money.

Transformers: The Last Knight, The Mummy, Baywatch, Alien: Covenant and more just didn't make big bucks. It seems as if American movie goers want to see quality films or original ideas now.
