Today it was announced that the FBI has arrested 31 year old Juan Thompson in connection with the threats on Jewish community centers, synagogues, and schools.

Although he doesn't appear to be the main person involved in the terrible activities, he was allegedly involved in them. For his part, he accuses his ex-girlfriend of framing him.

Who is Juan Thompson?

Juan Thompson is a 31 year old former reporter who allegedly worked for the left-leaning reporting outlet The Intercept.

He gained notoriety in 2014 when he fabricated multiple quotes in stories that he wrote. He also is alleged to have created fake emails in support of his fabrications.

According to The New Republic, this is Juan Thompson's Twitter. From it, we can gain a lot of clues about Juan Thompson:

He makes shocking statements regarding white people -- especially a white woman whom he appears to have dated.

According to his account, she stalked him. More interestingly, Thompson claims that the woman was the one who sent bomb threats in his name.

He says "She, though I can't prove it, even sent a bomb threat in my name to a Jewish center, which was odd given her anti-semitic statements.

I got a visit from the FBI. So now I'm battling the racist FBI."

Was Juan Thompson a Democrat?

There have been many tweets today arguing that Juan Thompson was a Democrat and/or a Bernie Sanders supporter. This is bolstered by some of his tweets. However, most of his tweets attack white people as well as progressives:

Thompson appears to believe in several conspiracy theories.

Was Juan Thompson a Bernie Sanders Supporter?

It is not 100% clear, but his tweets seem to indicate that he was. On July 25, 2016 the JuanMThompson account tweeted this:

Thompson's general political position appears to be left-of-center while hating the progressive media.

Note that several times in his Twitter, Thompson denies involvement in the JCC attacks. He also profess sympathy for the victims many times:

Juan Thompson had a relatively short career with the Intercept before they fired him. According to what's alleged to be his Twitter account, he currently works for a non-profit as Director of Communications. The organization is the Gateway Housing Foundation.
