Wikileaks appears to be dropping another bombshell today with what they're calling a "FBI-DoJ #PodestaEmail special" at 4pm?

What could it be? For now, there's little known, but it seems like this may be the bombshell that everyone is talking about. Wikileaks' specific tweet was: "Stay tune for our FBI-DoJ #PodestaEmail special circa 4pm EST."

During the brief part of the initial press conference in which he discussed all of his material, nearly a month ago, Assange said that he planned to release material on the following:

  • Google
  • the War
  • arms
  • US election
  • mass surveillance
  • Oil

But he also said that there was something that may put Hillary Clinton in jail.

Could Wikileaks Be Releasing Material They Think Will Put Clinton in Jail?

In the original conference, Assange was asked whether the upcoming material will "destroy Clinton." Assange responded that he has been misquoted in relation to that; he does not intend to harm Hillary Clinton.

He then walked back claims of devastating material for Clinton: "Are our upcoming publications significant in relation to the US election? Yeah, we think they're significant.

Do they show interesting features of US power factions and how they operate? Yes, they do."

But now it seems that may be wrong...

So What Is In This Huge Email?

Here's are the possibilities:

A revelation related to the FBI investigation into the Clinton Foundation.

The Clinton Foundation, which has been controversial for several different reasons, may be connected to the DNC via emails related to "pay-for-play" deals. But there hasn't publicly been an initial investigation.

Regarding the Clinton Foundation, the most likely scenario is that this is something related to what CNN''s Pamela Brown along with Townhall and the Washington Post reported earlier:

The story begins by focusing on the email probe side of the controversy, then delves into great detail about a raging, under-the-radar battle over multiple FBI field offices examining possible criminal wrongdoing at the Clinton Foundation. The specifics of the report are remarkable, with warring factions offering differing accounts of what has really transpired. One thing that becomes clear from the Journal's reporting is that some within the FBI believe top brass at their agency and at the Justice Department have repeatedly exerted their influence to hamstring or shut down a serious criminal investigation

One contingent of agents views their bosses at DOJ as actively trying to deep-six their investigative efforts, which could have further damaged the Clintons. Another contingent believes the evidence wasn't strong enough to justify a full-scale investigation.

Yes, agents in the FBI were essentially blocked from investigating the Clinton Foundation by the Obama Administration's DOJ. There was a major battle between people in the FBI and the Justice Department over whether to move forward with this investigation.

The Justice Department pushed to quash it, while the FBI pushed for it to be moved ahead, potentially to a grand jury or even indictment. Could Wikileaks have some proof that there was malintent behind the Justice Department's actions?

Things in this investigation do appear to be moving quickly. Earlier, Fox News' Brett Baier reported that the FBI plans to push for some significant indictments regarding the Clinton Foundation very soon.

Here We Go: Wikileaks Drops Material

First, we have this from the State Department (bold added):

The National Archives alerted me that they cannot account for a 2 terabyte hard drive containing electronic records from the Clinton administration. They last can account for the drive on January 30; they discovered it was missing on March 24 (NARA leadership found out later). They believe it was stolen. NARA has an identical copy of the drive, which it is analyzing.

Two terabytes is a very very large amount of data; the drive may contain a wide range of memos, emails, and other electronic documents from the Clinton White House. All the material is unclassified, except for three documents which Bill Leary has examined and does not believe present any significant risk. Based on its analysis, NARA believes the drive contains other sensitive material, including:

--There is at least a 50% likelihood that the personal information (including DOB and SSN) of all individuals placed through the Clinton Presidential Personnel Office was on the lost hard drive.

--There is a 90% likelihood that the personal information (including DOB and SSN) of all Clinton WH staff was on the lost hard drive. There is a 100% chance that some of it was on the lost hard drive.

--The three classified documents were authored by Lael Brainard, currently a top nominee for Treasury. Much of her work is likely on the drive. They are almost certainly records from many other White House officials. UNCLASSIFIED U.S. Department of State Case No. F-2016-07895 Doc No. C06131710 Date: 11/03/2016 UNCLASSIFIED U.S. Department of State Case No. F-2016-07895 Doc No. C06131710 Date: 11/03/2016

The NARA Inspector General is investigating the breach. NARA is working to determine what content was on the drive. NARA estimates that it will take about a week to determine the full range of individuals whose personal information was compromised; at that time NARA will determine whether to formally notify those individuals. Right now, NARA's efforts to ascertain the contents of the drive are focused on identifying whose personally identifiable information was compromised. Please let me know if you have any questions.
