The legendary English Heavy Metal band Venom has set January 27th as the release date for "From the Very Depths," their 14th studio album.

Band-leader and only original member, Cronos, had this to say of the album:

"This album is perfect, all three members are totally over-the-top confident with the new songs and the production. We had a great atmosphere in the studio while we were recording. Dante created pure thunder from his drums, while Rage tears the flesh off your face with his riffs, making everything fall into place so well.

It's a strong release and really shows the band maturing into an unstoppable force of pure Black Metal. We can't wait to play the new songs live for the Legions... Hell Yeah!"

Venom formed in 1979.

Their mix of sheer speed and disregard for technical proficiency was hugely influential to Thrash bands such as Metallica (who has opened for them), Slayer and Anthrax.

Venom's 1982 album, Black Metal - and its associated imagery -are regarded as instrumental to the formation of the sub genre of the same name.

From the Very Depths will be issued through Spinefarm Records on January 27th in digital and CD formats. A double vinyl will follow shortly after, although details about that are not yet available.
