Star of CW TV's "The Vampire Diaries," Ian Somerhalder is sounding off on the shooting that claimed the lives of two victims during a screening of the "Trainwreck" film in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Amy Schumer, the major star of the movie "Trainwreck," expressed her thoughts via Twitter and now, Somerhalder who is a native to Louisiana, is voicing his opinions on what went on and the safety of the country as a whole.

"Im so sorry for the victims&the families of the shooting in a movie theater," said Somerhalder in his post. "WTF are we doing to eachother?"

"We have officially crossed the threshold of being in the most violent time In human history," he continued. "What are we going TODAY for a better future?"

The shooting obviously strikes a little close to home as Somerhalder was born and raised in Covington, Louisiana. The star is a well known activist against atrocities that occur both nation and worldwide.

He and co-star Paul Wesley joined Ricky Gervais in the fight to help end the Yulin Dog-Meat Eating Festival by promoting the petition link via social media.

Now Somerhalder is lending his voice on another atrocity and encouraging others to build a better generation.

"What is happening in our society? Is it people playing uber violent video games from the age of five? Movies? Bad parenting? Society? WHAT?!" Somerhalder continued to question in his post.

"Anyone else as fed up and as pissed off as I am? Raise your voice! Lets start building the next generation to not be violent but smart & loving"

Two were killed in the shooting and the gunman committed suicide after the shocking and tragic attack.
