'Thor: Ragarok' Soars at the Box Office in U.S. Opening Weekend

After topping the worldwide box office just one week before the U.S. debut, Thor: Ragnarok has now successfully taken the top spot in America. The film is topping both the gklobal and domestic box office for the weekend of November 5, with the numbers continuing to soar as we speak.

"Amidst great reviews and audience enthusiasm, Disney's release of Marvel Studios' 'Thor: Ragnarok' hammered the global box office with a thunderous $272.4 million weekend performance that brings its worldwide total to an incredible $427 million," according to comScore's Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian.

Marvel's box office hits keep rolling in just a few weeks shy of the debut of DC's Justice League film. The comic book rivals have been battling for years with Marvel significantly edging out the competition each time.

It will be interesting to see how Thor: Ragnarok and Justice League battle it out at the box office for the top spot.
