The Expendables is a film franchise created by Sylvester Stallone that celebrated the history of the '80s and '90s' biggest action stars. The film became a trilogy, although a fourth movie was taking longer than expected.

Well now it seems it's full steam ahead as The Expendables 4 should be back on track. This was confirmed on Sylvester Stallone's official Instagram where he posted the following messages.

Just when you thought it was safe to go outside...They're coming back! BARNEY WILL BE BACK ! PLUS THE CREW AND A COUPLE NEW MEMBERS ...

This should see the return of favorites like Jet Li, Jason Statham, Terry Crews, Arnold Schwarzenegger and many more.

The Expendables 3 was somewhat criticized by fans because it focused more on the newer heroes aside from the older stars fans came to actually see.

One person unlikely to return to the franchise is Bruce Willis. Stallone fired Willis because the Die Hard star was asking for too much money for only a few days of work.

Stallone famously called Willis as being greedy and lazy.

There were rumors that Hulk Hogan was going to be the villain of The Expendables 4 a few years ago. That said, those rumors died down after Hogan's racist comments got leaked out to the public.

It will be interesting to see who Stallone has in mind to join the old crew. I wouldn't mind seeing Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan join the team.

Stallone's career has seen a resurgence thanks to The Expendables as well as his successful return to the Rocky Balboa character after starring in the excellent 2015 film 'Creed.
