Last year's Royal Rumble match was disappointing mainly because people wanted to see a few more surprises. Instead, we got Roman Reigns come out at number 30 and he was met with a chorus of boos.

To make sure the 2018 Royal Rumble is better, WWE should add some new surprises. They have two chances to do it this year mainly because there will be both women's and men's Royal Rumble matches.

Anyway, below is a list of names that I would like to see appear at the Royal Rumble PPV. Some might come true, while others might be wishful thinking but hopefully WWE can still make the event unpredictable.

Ronda Rousey: Reportedly former UFC Champion Ronda Rousey has already signed a deal with the WWE and could make her debut very soon.

The best way to make a huge impact is for her to dominate the women's Royal Rumble match.

WWE will be getting a lot of media attention from the likes of ESPN and more if Rousey appears at the Royal Rumble this year.

Her best friend already works for the WWE so it's only a matter of time until we see Rousey kick butt inside the squared circle.

Awesome Kong: Awesome Kong was in the men's Royal Rumble match a few years ago when WWE renamed her as Kharma. Now that there's a women's match, it will be great to see her in action again.

I know Nia Jax and Tamina will be in the Royal Rumble so it will be cool to see the big women going at it.

Not to mention Awesome Kong herself is a star in her own right starring as 'The Welfare Queen' in the GLOW Netflix series. Her addition could also spark some more media attention.

Trish Stratus and Lita: They are arguably the best women's wrestlers of all time and they are both in the WWE Hall of Fame.

Not to mention both of them are best friends in real life and can still wrestle if they want to.

Trish Stratus is already booked to appear at the Raw 25 show so she's still making public appearances. Likewise, Lita is still in great shape and she could enter the Royal Rumble if she wants to.

EC3: If you have watched TNA/Impact Wrestling, you may have heard of the talented EC3.

He was just a jobber in WWE named Derrick Bateman, but he made himself into a huge star ever since he left NXT a few years ago.

EC3 has now left TNA/Impact Wrestling and is free on January 28th, 2018 to appear at the Royal Rumble. Hopefully he's allowed to be called EC3 because the Derrick Bateman name is too boring.

Bobby Lashley: Bobby Lashley was being pushed to the moon when he first appeared in the WWE over a decade ago, but sadly he left WWE prematurely.

However, Lashley still made a name for himself in MMA with Bellator and still wrestled with TNA/Impact Wrestling. Much like EC3, Lashley has left TNA/Impact Wrestling and could return to the WWE any day now.

That said, there have been talks that Lashley's contract with TNA/Impact Wrestling might prevent him from wrestling in the WWE so soon after his departure.

Therefore, he might not be allowed to appear at the Royal Rumble, but I'm hoping a loophole can be found so we can see him again.

Batista: With Batista set to appear in Avengers: Infinity War later this year, it might be a idea good for him to get the promotional vehicle rolling by letting him appear for one night only at this year's Royal Rumble.

Unlike back in 2014, a one night return should be enough for fans to cheer for Batista as long as he doesn't win it.

Batista could also still work as a heel since fans love him more as a bad guy ironically.

However, I feel Batista is a long shot because he might still have prior commitments in Hollywood. Batista's chances of appearing in the Royal Rumble are higher than Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson though because the latter is much busier.

Anyway, these are the only names that I can think of that can be realistic surprises at the 2018 Royal Rumble PPV. I left out Chris Jericho mainly because he should be touring with Fozzy in France on the same day as the Rumble.

Kurt Angle could easily appear too, although he's not really a special guest anymore since we see him every week as the Raw GM, plus he's wrestled for WWE two times last year.

Unrealistic choices: Very unrealistic names to be thrown out there include Hulk Hogan, AJ Lee and CM Punk.

Hogan's name is still tarnished thanks to his racist rant. CM Punk and his wife AJ Lee aren't likely to appear either since Punk still hates the WWE.
