Supergirl Season 3 Might Not Add Lex Luthor And General Zod Into The Mix

Lex Luthor and General Zod have been haunting Superman for years, but it seems as if the Supergirl TV show is keeping these villains at bay.

The show creators want to showcase different villains for a chance since these guys have always featured in other mediums.

Supergirl's showrunner, Andrew Kreisberg, was interviewed by TV Guide (via ComicBook.com) and he said Season 3 is unlikely to add General Zod.

Zod just appeared in a dream-like cameo in the Season 2 finale, but there are no plans to really bring him back as an actual bad guy on the show. You can read his comments below.

It was more of a fun cameo. We have no plans to bring him on. We see our version of Superman [played by Tyler Hoechlin] as one who has already gone through everything that exists in the mythology. He's already fought Zod, Brainiac, Doomsday. Also, what is the new thing we could bring to it.

He said we've already seen Terence Stamp and Michael Shannon take on the role as Zod in the Superman movies so there's not much else they can do that will look and feel different.

Another villain is also unlikely to appear in Season 3 and that's Lex Luthor.

Lex Luthor has been name dropped a few times on the TV show, but he has yet to appear. Lex's sister and mother are on the show while he's still in jail.

Kreisberg says they are concentrating more on Lena Luthor instead so they don't want to add Lex into the mix. They will have more things in store for Lena in Season 3.

Season 3 of Supergirl will air on Monday October 9th.

A lot of things happened in the Season 2 finale so hopefully all the questions we have about the finale get answered. There's a lot of directions to where the series could go.
