Today, in a series of angry tweets, Donald Trump attacked Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal about his 'major lie' regarding his military service during Vietnam.

Blumenthal had said that Supreme Court Nominee Neil Gorsuch made a statement about being 'disappointed' about Trump's attacks on the judicial branch. This apparently didn't sit well with Trump, who immediately claimed the statements were a lie, and tweeted this:

Trump was at least partially right about Blumenthal. In the past, Blumenthal has often bragged about his service during Vietnam.

In reality, however, during the Vietnam war, Blumenthal got several deferments. Late in the war, Blumenthal did in fact enlist; however, he never actually went to Vietnam and served cushy assignments in the U.S.

The question is: is Trump really the person who should be making such an argument? Many will remember that Trump got four deferments from Vietnam.

To get one of those deferments, he claimed that he had "bone spurs" in his heels, which for some reason made it impossible for him to serve.

Interestingly enough, he can no longer even remember which foot had the "bone spurs."

But that wasn't all. Not only did Trump not serve in Vietnam -- he was actually partying it up at the time. He spoke about it in 1997 with Howard Stern:

Trump: It is my Vietnam...I feel like a great and very brave soldier.

...

Stern: Now getting back to dating, now when you got to say to a woman, you gotta go to my personal doctor and I'm gonna have you checked out, is that a tough thing to say to a woman or you just got the **** to say it?

Trump: You know I'll tell you, it's amazing, I can't even believe it. I've been so lucky in terms of that whole world.

Stern: You've never gotten a social disease?

Trump: It is a dangerous world out there, scary. It's like Vietnam, sort of.

Stern: It is...it's your personal Vietnam isn't it?

Trump: It is my personal Vietnam. I feel like a great and very brave soldier!

Stern: A lot of guys who went through Vietnam came out unscathed. A lot of guys going through the 80s having sex with different women came out with AIDS and all kinds of things.

Quivers: Right they survived Vietnam and they got it in the sexual war...

Trump: This is better than Vietnam, but it's uh... it's more fun.

Stern: A little better, but every ****** is a landmine, haven't we both said that in private?

Quivers: Potential

Stern: A potential landmine

Trump: I think it is... There's some real danger there.

That's right, Trump actually said he was a "very brave soldier" for avoiding STDs during the Vietnam war. Given that he never served the country at all, and Blumenthal did, we'll leave you to decide who is the bigger hypocrite.
