Anyway, many fans were wondering what happens to Darth Maul in the timeline ever since he came back in The Clone Wars.

The character was thought to be dead when Obi-Wan Kenobi sliced him in half at the end of The Phantom Menace.

Alas, he was brought back due to fan feedback and has now featured in both The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.

This latest episode now tells us what happens to the character for the rest of the Star Wars timeline.

Well I'm sure where fans know where this is going. Let's just say this is the final battle between Darth Maul and Obi-Wan Kenobi and there is only one winner in this lightsaber battle.

Disney has been advertising this to be the ultimate lightsaber showdown, but sadly the actual fight only lasted literally 3 seconds. Some fans are kind of annoyed we never saw another epic showdown, but this is what Disney has presented us.

Darth Maul finds Obi-Wan Kenobi in Tatooine and knows he's hiding someone. As fans we know that he is hiding Luke Skywalker from The Emperor. Darth Maul challenges Kenobi to one last duel, but it doesn't last very long.

Darth Maul rushes in but Kenobi mortally wounds him with just one strike. Due to one strike, the lightsaber battle is over.

Sadly, Maul dies in the hands of Kenobi. Before Maul dies, he utters the words "he will avenge us". He means Luke Skywalker will finally take down The Emperor.

That's pretty much it for Darth Maul.

This is the reason why we never hear from him ever again in future Star Wars films/content.

It's fitting that Obi-Wan Kenobi finally gets revenge for Maul killing off Qui-Gon Jinn. The Star Wars Rebels creators initially wanted Maul to die at the hands of Darth Vader.

As a fan of Darth Maul, I'm sad to see him die but it was inevitable.

I'm just more annoyed that the lightsaber fight ended so quickly. Disney advertised a huge showdown and all we got was one of the shortest lightsaber fights in history.
