The 2018 Empire Awards was held a few days ago and the biggest winner of the night was Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The science fiction movie managed to snag the most awards winning six overall trophies.

EmpireOnline posted all of the winners on its website and Star Wars: The Last Jedi won in the biggest categories. The film won Best Film, Best Director (Rian Johnson) and Best Actress (Daisy Ridley).

The Best Film category was pretty stacked as the other movies nominated included Get Out, Wonder Woman, Call Me By Your Name and Thor: Ragnarok. Daisy Ridley also managed to beat out Gal Gadot's portrayal of Wonder Woman too.

Mark Hamill was not nominated in the Best Actor category, but he did manage to get the Empire Icon Award.

The last two awards that Star Wars: The Last Jedi received were for best "Best Visual Effects" and "Best Costume Design".

The Empire Awards have much different winners compared to both the Academy Awards and the Golden Globes. This is mainly because the winners are awarded thanks to readers of the magazine.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is an interesting movie mainly because of the range of reactions it gets.

Lots of people praise the film calling it as strong as The Empire Strikes Back, but on the other hand a portion of fans think it's the worst Star Wars movie ever made.

It will be interesting to see how the reception for The Last Jedi affects Star Wars: Episode IX when it comes out in December 2019.

JJ Abrams has a tough job trying to please everyone that may have been upset with The Last Jedi.
