When Star Wars: The Force Awakens came out back in December 2015, it broke a lot of Box Office records becoming the third highest grossing movie of all time in the process.

Well Star Wars: The Last Jedi has earned a lot of money, its worldwide gross has gotten a steep drop.

The Force Awakens became only the third film in cinema history to gross over $2 billion worldwide. The top two belongs to James Cameron for his movies Titanic and Avatar at places number two and number one respectively.

As reported by Forbes, the final worldwide gross of Star Wars: The Last Jedi is expected to be over $1.3 billion worldwide. Well this is not a bad achievement, it grossed a lot less than what it was expected to do.

When the movie launched with huge numbers back in December 2017, Box Office analysts predicted the film would have ended its run with $1.6 billion worldwide.

A $1.3 billion gross is still good, but it's still below the grosses of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Furious 7, The Avengers and Jurassic World.

One of the reasons why the film experienced a drop might be due to its divisive reception.

While critics love the film, a lot of the hardcore Star Wars fan base have been very vocal about how they negatively feel about the movie.

Not to mention The Last Jedi completely underwhelmed in the country of China. People living in China are new to the Star Wars franchise so they don't have a big fan base like in other countries around the world.

It will be interesting to see how Disney will react to the Box Office gross of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

One has to think the studio would like Star Wars: Episode IX to gross higher than that since it will be the last one in the new trilogy before more movies are made in the far future.
