As many would have expected, Star Trek Beyond is the number one movie in the country right now, topping the worldwide and domestic box office in its opening weekend.

Domestically, The Secret Life of Pets and Lights Out finished in second and third place respectively.

However, Star Trek Beyond was too big for the rest of the competition to handle. It's an especially special release as one of the film's actors Anton Yelchin tragically passed away earlier on in the year.

"Paramount's 'Star Trek Beyond' leads the global box office this weekend as it boldly earns $30.0 million in 37 international territories plus $59.6 million in North America for a total of $89.6 million," according to comScore's Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian.

"Notably, China title 'Skiptrace' earns $44 million this weekend for a global total to date of $58.5 million."
