Spider-Man: Homecoming Reaches Box Office Milestones

Spider-Man: Homecoming is proving to be popular at both the North American and Worldwide Box Office. As of this weekend, the movie has managed to reach two significant milestones prior to its final release in China this September.

In North America, Spider-Man: Homecoming grossed around $6.1 million this weekend. Due to this, the movie has grossed $306 million at the North American Box Office. It's the first Spider-Man movie since Spider-Man 3 to gross over $300 million domestically.

From a worldwide standpoint, Homecoming crossed the $700 million mark by earning $702 million.

This is thanks to its debut in Japan this weekend. The movie has yet to open in China so it's possible the film could gross close to $800 million when it's all said and done.

The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 earned $757.9 million and $709 million worldwide respectively.

Even though these numbers are not disappointing, it wasn't as profitable for Sony because those movies cost well over $200 million to make. Homecoming had a budget of $175 million plus the help from Marvel Studios to aid the movie's promotion.

It's safe to say the future for the Tom Holland Spidey is looking healthy. A sequel is already set for 2019, although Holland is returning in Avengers: Infinity War next year. It's been quite successful for comic book movies this year as Logan, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.

2 and Wonder Woman have done really well at the Box Office.

Two more comic book movies are left to come out and they include Justice League and Thor: Ragnarok. Those two films are also expected to earn big bucks later this year.
