There's a new Dragon Ball Super movie out later this year, although details about the film are scarce at the moment.

Well this week we finally get to know some more info about the movie thanks to an interview with Dragon Ball Head Akio Iyoku.

The official Dragon Ball website posted an interview with Iyoku and he said many things about how this Dragon Ball Super movie came into fruition.

Dragon Ball fansite DB-Z.com thankfully translated some of the best things he had to say.

One of the most interesting things Iyoku said about the new film is that it won't have a simple storyline like previous Dragon Ball movies released in the past.

This new film will have multiple layers to its narrative mainly because it will take place in both the past and the present.

Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama is still heavily involved in the film's production as he not only provided story details, but he also helped design many of the new characters, machines and a new planet.

Iyoku says Toriyama finds it easier creating a story for a movie compared to a TV show that has lots and lots of episodes.

Iyoku also hinted that fights in the new Dragon Ball Super will be more impressive than the final fight we saw in the Dragon Ball Super TV show.

He also hopes that the film blows away fan expectations because there will be a lot of "fan service" added to the movie.

The new Dragon Ball Super movie will be released in Japan on December 14th, 2018. Iyoku is hoping to release the movie around the world at the same time, although it may take some time due to localization matters.
