On the Howard Stern Show Monday, star EDM DJ Skrillex talked with Howard Stern about Deadmau5 (Joel Zimmerman) publicly dissing Skrillex's skills.

"The thing about Joel is that he's kind of in his own lane," Skrillex said. "He talks crap about everybody. You can't take it that seriously or personally."

In 2012, Deadmau5 dissed Skrillex in an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine. He said: "Even Skrillex [a friend of Zimmerman's] isn't doing anything too technical.

He has a laptop and a MIDI recorder, and he's just playing his shit ... People are, thank God, smartening up about who does what - but there's still button-pushers getting paid half a million."

Skrillex doesn't have any beef with Deadmau5, despite the s*** talk. When Skrillex was first releasing music, Deadmau5 shared it on his social media, and released one of Skrillex's first EPs. They're friends, and even collaborators.

Stern asked if there is some competition now that Skrillex is rising in popularity, and maybe that is what adds to any animosity Deadmau5 expresses toward Skrillex.

"I don't know what his intentions are, or why he is the way he is," Skrillex said.

Skrillex is just making music, man.

Skrillex's newest single is TAKE YOU THERE. The song was released by Jack U, and features Diplo, Skrillex, and singer Kiesza, who also wrote the lyrics. Diplo and Skrillex will be playing Madison Square Garden on New Years Eve.

"This is good, man. I might download this. Illegally," Stern joked.
