Avatar 2 and its other sequels have been talked about for a very long time, but shooting for the films have yet to commence.

Thankfully, Sigourney Weaver has given a positive update on the movie which has been in preproduction for a very long time.

The Hollywood Reporter had a chance to interview Sigourney Weaver and apparently Avatar 2 will be shooting later this year.

She said she may not be allowed to say much, but shooting for the film starts in Fall 2017. This is good news for fans of the franchise since the first film in the series came out back in December 2009.

She also says she has started training for the role already. We could hear more official news about the movie later this year.

These sequels have been in the pipeline for many years, but James Cameron kept delaying them.

It will be interesting to see how popular the franchise is now that many comic book movies and Star Wars films dominate the Box Office.

Weaver also said that the sequels all have amazing scripts. She doesn't think that fans of the first film will be disappointed.

She said the long wait for the Avatar sequels will be worth it at the end. Many people said the first film had a cliche plot, so hopefully the stories in the sequels will offer us something more original.

Avatar 2 was supposed to be out in December 2018, but got delayed. Avatar 3, 4 and 5 are also due out in the next few years after that.

Many actors from the previous films are expected to reprise their roles for the sequel(s). Avatar is still the highest grossing movie of all time worldwide.
