Rumor: General Zod Might Be Terrorizing In The Supergirl TV Series

The Supergirl TV series has featured a lot of great villains across its two seasons. None of them however have the household name status of someone like General Zod. One of Superman's best villains might finally be knocking onto the doorstep of Supergirl.

Story continues below....

This rumor is courtesy of an exclusive report from Bleeding Cool. They say that Canadian actor Mark Gibbon has been cast as General Zod in the Supergirl TV series. They also say he is currently on the set right now filming for the TV series. An official confirmation and announcement will be happening very soon according to the website.

Since the CW has yet to confirm this officially, we're categorizing this news as a rumor for now. However, General Zod's addition to the TV show could fit in nicely. It was revealed a few weeks ago that the character of Superman will be back for the Season 2 finale. General Zod is Superman's greatest villain not named Lex Luthor.

It's possible General Zod could be the main villain for Season 3 of the series. When it comes to shows on the CW, they usually like to end each season with a cliffhanger that leads into the next one. Not to mention they cast a Canadian in the role of Zod. The TV series itself is filming in Vancouver, Canada.

Mark Gibbon is no stranger when it comes to comic book roles. He was an extra in the Man of Steel movie and also played a small part in the Smallville TV series. He has also been the voice of many characters in Marvel cartoons.

Zod could be the actor's biggest role to date. It will be cool to see the character going toe-to-toe with the likes of Superman and Supergirl. Hopefully he can be as cool as the Zods that featured in Superman II and Man of Steel.
