A Wrinkle in Time is out later this weekend and it's being seen as the first true competition for Black Panther.

However, the movie's Box Office success could somewhat be affected by the mixed reviews it has been currently receiving from professional critics.

This is because the film's current Rotten Tomatoes rating is far from being certified fresh from the popular aggregate website. The current rating for the movie as of time of writing this article is only hovering at around 46 percent.

64 reviews have been collected so far with 29 fresh reviews compared to 35 negative reviews. A critical consensus for the film can be seen down below.

"A Wrinkle in Time is visually gorgeous, big-hearted, and occasionally quite moving; unfortunately, it's also wildly ambitious to a fault, and often less than the sum of its classic parts."

A positive thing about the film according to critics is the cast. Many critics seem to love Storm Reid who is the young actress that plays the main character of Meg Murray.

Likewise, they also like the casting of the more recognizable names in the movie such as Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling.

That said, some other critics feel the characters that the trio play aren't very necessary to the story.

The story and pacing seem to be the biggest criticism so far, although that's being said by critics that have not read the original book yet.

Fans of the book might understand and get the story better than most other people.

Even though A Wrinkle in Time is getting mixed reviews from critics, this does not necessarily mean the general audience won't like it. Netflix's 'Bright' film starring Will Smith got bad reviews last December, but fans still loved it.

A Wrinkle in Time releases in North America on March 9th, 2018. It will be interesting to see how the movie opens going up against Black Panther's fourth weekend at the Box Office.
