The Star Wars prequels mostly had mixed receptions from both fans and critics.

The same cannot be said about the new Star Wars movies as the ones we've received so far have been rated really well by critics.

It looks like Disney/Lucasfilm have hit another home run with Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

The review embargo for Star Wars: The Last Jedi has been lifted and the Rotten Tomatoes rating for the film is very impressive. As of time of writing, the movie has a high rating of 93 percent.

Overall, 140 reviews have been counted and 130 of reviewers gave the film a positive score. Only a minority of 10 reviewers did not like the film.

The average rating score for the movie is 8.3/10 meaning many critics would have scored the film with 4/5 stars. You can read the critical consensus down below.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi honors the saga's rich legacy while adding some surprising twists -- and delivering all the emotion-rich action fans could hope for.

Currently, The Last Jedi has the same Rotten Tomatoes rating as Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It's unlikely the rating will change that much when more reviews are added. Anything above 90 percent should be seen as a big positive.

The Last Jedi also ties Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope with the 93 percent rating om Rotten Tomatoes. Only The Empire Strikes Back is higher than the rest of the movies in the franchise with a score of 94 percent.

I'll be watching the movie for myself tomorrow and will give you my full non spoiler review.

Once more people have watched the film after opening weekend, I might also talk about spoilers as it sounds like there's a lot to discuss!
