Robert Downey Jr. Says Spider-Man: Homecoming Early Screenings Is Going Well

Some people have been lucky enough to catch Spider-Man: Homecoming before its July release and it seems if the movie is being well received. This is good news for both Sony and Marvel who collectively worked on the new reboot. This is because Sony decided to retire The Amazing Spider-Man franchise in 2014.

Story continues below....

Robert Downey Jr. held a recent Facebook livestream (via Heroic Hollywood) where he talked about how well the early screenings for Spider-Man: Homecoming went. He says many fans say it's a 10/10 movie. You can read his comments about the topic below.

This Homecoming thing turned out very well... People have been starting early screenings of Spider-Man: Homecoming, and they say it's absolutely a 10 out of 10. I certainly enjoyed participating in it, and I think this will be one of the big Summer hits. Anyway, these L.A. premieres are usually pretty fun

This is a good sign going forward as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 went really well with early screenings too. That movie has now grossed over $800 million worldwide at the Box Office with a third movie already going to be out in the near future.

Sony needs Homecoming to be successful since they have not made a popular Spider-Man film since Spider-Man 2. Spider-Man 3, The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 weren't received well by a large portion of movie goers.

Homecoming could be Sony's comeback since Tom Holland was well received when he appeared for a brief moment in last year's Captain America: Civil War. The movie is not coming out until this first week of July so it avoids competition from the great Wonder Woman movie currently out in cinemas. However, it may face competition later on from the likes of War of the Planet of the Apes and Dunkirk.
