The new Tomb Raider reboot movie is out now in cinemas and it stars Alicia Vikander in the iconic role as video game heroine Lara Croft.

Sadly though, the film was unable to feature a cameo from Angelina Jolie who played Lara Croft in the early '00s in the first Tomb Raider movies.

Usually reboots feature cameos of past stars in order to give an Easter Egg to the audience.

However, some things prevented Jolie from making a cameo as they felt it didn't fit within the story they wanted to tell with this new reboot.

Cinemablend had a chance to interview producer Graham King and he revealed the reason why Jolie didn't make a cameo in the new film. You can read his comments about the matter posted down below.

"It was never a story that had that moment where you could, you know what I mean? Pass the baton over. There wasn't that kind of tone and that would've changed tones to have that... the studios of course, said 'is there a way to get Angie? Should we try and have her kind of baton over this kind of thing?' And I understand it for marketing and studios or whatever, but that never felt organic to our film. Something like that can tip the balance."

There weren't that many roles that Jolie could have had thanks to the story route that the reboot took. Most of the time the movie was set on an island full of bad guys.

Even if King had a role that was suitable for Jolie, there's always a chance that Jolie might have turned down a chance to cameo in the movie.

If a Tomb Raider sequel is made, hopefully they find a way for Jolie to come back.
