When the remaining co-hosts of the Opie and Anthony show returned to the air Monday they made it clear they did not agree with SiriusXM's decision to fire Anthony Cumia over a Twitter rant which occurred after he was assaulted in New York's Times Square.

Jim Norton, the third host on the program explained his disdain over the firing.

"He said harsh things, but he didn't do harsh things," Norton said. "I was annoyed at the press...

If I had a pistol and that happened, I would've pulled it in sheer panic -- and he didn't. And he didn't hit the woman back."

Cumia is licensed to carry a gun in New York and it was believed he was armed at the time of the assault.

Greg "Opie" Hughes defended his co-host of 20 years as well.

"I absolutely do not believe that Anthony should have been fired, OK? And the company is probably going to get really mad at that after this radio show," he said.

"As harsh as the tweets were, as much as I had that gut feeling this was going to go down, I just don't agree with them whatsoever."

Cumia has refused to apologize and launches a new subscription based show, The Anthony Cumia Show, August 4.
