When Zayn Malik decided to leave One Direction the world stood a bit still for the fans who really couldn't imagine the group without Malik.

The band visited the Ellen DeGeneres show and Harry Styles commented on the weirdness of speaking about Malik after the split.

DeGeneres asked the group if they expected Mailk's departure to be such a heavily publicized topic and for the most part they all agreed. Louis Tomlinson said that the group had a feeling that Malik was leaving while Liam Payne says he's talked to him a couple of times since he left the band.

With all of the heavy air in the room Harry Styles decided to break it up by laughing and called for some jokes.

The band has decided that they will be taking a year off and DeGeneres' montage of their biggest falls on stage only backed up the decision. They plan on getting some rest but admit that it's going to be hard for them because they are just so used to the schedule having done four tours in four years.

To cap off their appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres show, the boys of One Direction performed their new hit "Drag Me Down" for a sea of screaming fans.

It's safe to say everyone is in a good place especially after Malik went on to talk about how the band worked for him in an interview with The Fader.
