Motoi Yamamoto is a Japanese artist that uses salt to create intricate geometrical labyrinths.

The artist chose salt as his main tool of work after the loss of his sister, since in Japan they use salt during funeral rituals to keep the evil away.

His works of art are enormous and meticulous, despite their big dimensions always come to a conclusion, like a life circle. The labyrinths assume a mystic and religious meaning, changing and disappearing like traces of his memory.

"I would like to express my belief in the cosmic nature of art, which represents the transience and ephemeral nature of our lives. In realizing this ephemeral, we learn that life is a process of approaching death", he explains.
