Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle had been on top of the North American Box Office charts for over a month continuing its impressive run.

However, the movie finally had to settle for second place this week thanks to the new release of Maze Runner: The Death Cure.

As reported by Box Office Mojo, Maze Runner: The Death Cure is performing slightly ahead of estimates and it will gross around $22 million or $23 million this weekend.

Even though this is lower than the opening weekends for the previous films, it had a modest budget of $62 million so it should regain some of its money in overseas markets.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle had to settle for second place this week dropping down to $13.1 million. It only dropped by 33% compared to last week and should gross $325 million in total in North America.

Jumanji 2 is still making a lot of money internationally with a worldwide gross of $777 million. Due to the success of the movie, Sony is already thinking of releasing a sequel in December 2019 to come out alongside Star Wars: Episode IX.

Hostiles starring Christian Bale is third place this week with an estimate of around $10 million to $11 million in the three day weekend. It gets a wide release this week after it was only shown at limited theaters back in December 2017.

Disney's/Lucasfilms' Star Wars: The Last Jedi is still clinging on six weeks after release with a weekend total of $4.3 million in North America.

The domestic gross for the film should now cross over $610 million with a worldwide total of just over $1.3 billion.
