Matthew McConaughey Might Not Play Adam Warlock In Guardians 3

The character of Adam Warlock played an important role in the Marvel comic books.

However, the character is being saved for Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Director James Gunn talked briefly of the character's casting and suggests Matthew McConaughey is too old to play Adam Warlock.

IGN had a chance to interview James Gunn and he said that Adam Warlock is likely going to be played by someone else that is far younger than Matthew McConaughey. You can read his comments about the matter below.

No, listen. I mean, I think McConaughey would be too old for the role, Adam Warlock is basically a baby because he is just being born. I get a lot of people giving me a lot of ideas for Adam Warlock online, but that guy is 65-years-old! How is that going to be Adam Warlock; He's a baby! Gunn originally wanted McConaughey to play the role of Starlord's father in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

However, Matthew McConaughey turned the role down which went to Kurt Russell instead. Matthew McConaughey instead starred in The Dark Tower which is out now this weekend.

Plans could always change when it comes to the interpretation of Adam Warlock in the MCU. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 won't be out anytime soon because the cast members are involved with Avengers: Infinity War and the fourth Avengers movie.

Both of these films are out in 2018 and 2019 respectively. It's entirely possible the third movie will not be released until the year 2020. Adam Warlock could play an important part of the MCU in the future though.
