It's a path we're all used to. A fresh faced teen shows up in a reality show, then starts becoming fodder for all of the gossip magazines.

Pretty soon, we see the rising star at celebrity red carpet events. Then it's only a matter of time before they begin a true career, perhaps with some acting gigs, maybe music (if they're talented), or even small film roles.

But for some reason Leann Rimes seems to have done things backwards.

While this country music sensation used to be known for her hit albums and wins at music award shows, she's now a tabloid star and living for the all of the gossip that's being generated about her.

Just how did this transformation take place? Let's take a look back.

Leann Rimes's First Marriage

Leann Rimes first marriage was to Dean Sheremet in 2002. The marriage actually lasted 7 years. But in 2009, Rimes reportedly cheated on Dean with Eddie Cibrian.

This marks a major transition in Leann's career given that the last point at which Leann won a Grammy award was in 2008, despite the fact that she has continued to release albums since then.

So did her breakup with Dean Sheremet play a role? He certainly seems to think so. According to ET Dean said about his relationship to Rimes:

"The dumbest thing she ever did for her career was divorce me, because we were such a good team. The last hit song she had was when she was with me."

Leann Rimes Marries Eddie Cibrian

Leann Rimes met Eddie Cibrian while working with him on a lifetime movie called Northern Lights. Press coverage was extensive about their extra-marital affair.

Not only did Rimes's marriage to Dean Sheremet end, but Eddie Cibrian's marriage to Brandi Glanville was also terminated. In 2010, Rimes and Cibrian got engaged and by 2011, these two were married.

Leann Rimes Today

Since 2011, it seems Leann Rimes name has never left the tabloids. From her feud and public Twitter spats with Brandi Glanville, to her relationship with Eddie Cibrian to her sudden admission to treatment for reported anxiety and depression, fans just can't get enough of Rimes's personal life rather than her music career.

Of course, Brandi Glanville's memoirs have certainly served to keep Rimes's name in the press for all of the wrong reasons.

But taking to reality TV in 2014 to discuss her relationship with Eddie Cibrian, certainly did make Rimes most memorable for her affair.

So will we see Leann Rimes returning to music as her focus? Well, she's certainly never stopped releasing albums. But if she manages to drop her feud with Brandi, she might just have a better chance.
