Kevin Smith, the director with a massive cult following, is asking fans to contribute to his upcoming film, Clerks III.

"RANDAL'S GOT A BLANK SPACE," Smith posted on his Facebook account, "SO WRITE A NAME. The female lead in CLERKS III can be anywhere from 30 to 45 years old. I have ideas for the role but I'm curious to hear YOUR thoughts.

So - even though you know nothing about the story or the character other than an age range, I ask you: when Randal Graves meets his match... who can it be? Suggestion box open... NOW!"

Clerks III will be the first movie in Smith's comedy franchise since Clerks II was released in 2006. And Female leads have played key roles in the films: In Clerks, the main story revolved around the love triangle between Dante Hicks, Veronica Loughran--played by Marilyn Ghigliotti; and Caitlin Bree--played by Lisa Spoonhauer.

In Clerks II, Dante had to choose between Becky Scott--played by Rosario Dawson--and Emma Bunting--played by Jennifer Schwalbach.

Randal, however, has never had a female love interest. He has always been the static character of the franchise; whenever Dante talks about making a change in his life, Randal talks him out of it and convinces him that there is no need to live up to everyone else's standards.

Will Clerks' resident prankster finally mature in the franchise's third film? We will just have to wait to find out.
