The executive producer and co-writer for "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals," Julie Plec has released the premiere date for the two shows and it looks like fans will be getting a double dose of vampires and werewolves in one night.

Recently we wrote that Plec hadn't given much away in terms of what fans can look forward to on the new season, after all, why would she so early on in the summer. That being said, it certainly didn't stop her from tweeting the premiere date for both shows.

In the tweet below Plec announced that both "The Vampire Diaries" season seven and "The Originals" season 3 will be premiering on October 8.

This fall just got a whole lot more exciting as earlier reports of the two shows airing on the same night have now officially been confirmed.

"The Vampire Diaries" lost two major cast members in Steven R. McQueen and Nina Dobrev while "The Originals" did their fair share of banishing and killing off as well.

The announcement should be music to fans ears as they can now enjoy two shows that are directly related in context and content on the same evening.
