It Sounds Like More Adults Are Interested In Collecting Star Wars Toys Than Kids

Thanks to the digital age, kids nowadays are more interested in technology things such as video games and apps.

Physical toy sales are on the decline and it sounds like adult collectors are more interested in action figures than kids these days.

This is according to a new report posted by Bloomberg. Analyst Gerrick Johnson talked with the website and he says kids aren't interested in visiting the cinema anymore.

This is because there's too many screens available these days that going to see a movie on the big screen doesn't feel like a special event to them.

Movie tie-in merchandise is not getting as much money as it used to.

The most interesting part about the report is that it suggests adult collectors are more interested in Star Wars than kids are.

Johnson says many adult collectors buy a lot of Star Wars toys when they come out, but after that the demand dies down.

I have to admit, I'm a toy collector more now as an adult compared to when I was younger. After the release of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, I gave up on collecting toys entirely.

It was not until the 2015 release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens did I feel the urge to collect toys again.

I agree with this report from Johnson because my 37 year old brother is also collecting toys again thanks to Star Wars.

Another reason for the decline according to Johnson is due to franchise fatigue.

This is the third consecutive year that we are getting a Star Wars movie, with Solo: A Star Wars Story set to be the fourth one when it comes out in May.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see how toy manufacturers like Hasbro and Mattel deal with this current decline in toy sales.

Maybe they should scrap toys for kids and focus entirely on adult collectors instead to save some money on production costs.
