There are plenty of extraordinary people in the world who despite some pretty major setbacks, still manage to rise above.

A blind and deaf teen named Marvin shared his story of overcoming his disabilities and becoming a varsity football player during a visit to The Ellen Show.

DeGeneres gave Marvin Pearson a warm introduction to her show and said he was something else. Marvin thanked The Ellen Show for having him there on his birthday.

He called DeGeneres the most inspirational person period. She thanked him and asked him to share his story.

Marvin said at first no one believed that he was going blind because he would play around a lot. He equated it to the "Boy Who Cried Wolf" story and later on said that he didn't know his hearing was bad until he got the cochlear implant and heard everything much clearer.

Marvin said his doctor knew his vision was going but he had no explanation for it.

This young man is an inspiration. Can't wait for you to meet him tomorrow.

It has been eight years since Pearson went completely deaf and blind but he said that the experience has matured him as a person mentally.

Marvin said that he won't lie to DeGeneres and that he used to play around a lot but now he realized that it was time for him to grow up and prove to the world that people with disabilities can do anything a normal person can do.

Marvin is a running back for his team and has scored a touchdown and two-point conversion in the last week. Drew Brees is Marvin's favorite quarterback and said he was inspired by him.

Meanwhile, Marvin was surprised to learn that he will be a VIP guest to one of the New Orleans Saints games.

The teen with a ton of ambition also hopes to go to college and continue his dreams. You can watch Marvin Pearson tell his story in The Ellen Show video below.
