For more than 20 years Howard Stern has been getting up early to start his radio show at 6 a.m.

In recent years, he has been openly complaining about having to start that early, especially because on satellite radio his show repeats throughout the day.

Now Stern will be able to sleep a little later as he's moving the start of his three-day-a-week program to 7 a.m. He announced the move on Twitter Monday.

The move does not take effect until January, but Stern will likely be off most of, if not all of the rest of the year after Wednesday's show.

Stern has suggested for years that he might move the start time for his program even bringing up the idea of moving to the afternoon.

SiriusXM, his employer, had been against the move preferring to keep him on during the traditional morning drive hours. The change, albeit only an hour, breaks with radio tradition, but Stern is not stranger to doing that.

The radio host also announced that he would be returning next summer as a judge on another season of "America's Got Talent."
